Three Keys To Blogging Success

If you want to be a successful blogger, here are three important points to consider.

Quality – This is a subject which can generate some flames, as the word “quality” is very subjective.  For some, quantity outweighs quality and in their haste for new content will outsource their blog posts to others.  I personally think that is a bad idea, as a blog is your branding tool and an extension of who YOU are.  Many internet “gurus” will tell you that throwing up content, no matter how poorly written or off topic, is a great SEO strategy.  I would disagree in this case, as readers are not search engines.  If you want to use ghost writers to submit articles to the directory sites under pseudo-author names, then go for it.  But remember, your blog is about YOU.

Consistency – If your blog is going to be the hub of your online activities, then you must consistently be adding new content.  This is usually in the form of a new post or article, but could also be a podcast or video.  Like quality, consistency is open to definition.  In an ideal world, you want to be adding content daily.  In our time-constrained reality, three posts a week is far more likely.  Remember too, the more keyword rich posts on your blog, the greater your chances of exposure from search engine traffic.  And more traffic can lead to more money in your pocket.    .

Authority – As a blogger, your main goal is to position yourself as an authority within your given niche.  This comes from adding value, building trust and establishing credibility.  By creating consistent and valuable blog content, you will earn the respect of your readers and define yourself as a leader and expert in your field.  It does not happen overnight and takes getting your hands dirty to gain the necessary knowledge, experience and expertise that your readers seek.

If you put out quality content on a consistent basis, then you are well on your way to becoming a successful authority in your niche.
